Monmouth Claims Eighth Straight MAAC Title Following the 2022 Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship Presented by VisitNJ

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ (May 8, 2022) - Monmouth University clinched its eighth straight MAAC Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship at the Michael P. Brady Track and Field Complex on Sunday afternoon. The Hawks never relinquished the lead following day one of the meet, finishing with a team score of 263.

The Hawks first gold medal of the day came from Mohamed Diagouraga in the men’s triple jump. He claimed first place with a mark of 15.57m, teammates Keven Kevelier and Ahmad Brock finished in in second and third with marks of 14.51m and 14.48 respectively for a sweep of the event. Junior Jalen Jones finished first in the men’s 400-meter dash with a 48.48 finish. Monmouth’s final gold of the day came from the 4x800 meter relay. The Hawks quartet of Tremain, Hoffman, Caraccio, DiLaurenzio finished with a time of 7:36.73, finishing 3.38 seconds before the second place team.
 
Monmouth finished the day with six gold medals, followed by Rider who took four first place finishes.

Rider’s first gold medal of the second day of competition was earned by Marques Merriweather in the 110 meter hurdles. Merriweather placed first with a time of 14.28. In field, Devynn Lee took first in the high jump event with a mark of 2.01m. The Broncs final gold of the day came behind Green, Boyer, Burgess, and Snyder in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:12.91.

  • Iona’s 4x100 relay team of Jordan Providence, Kevin Fullerton, Prince Forson, and Jadyn Tabois broke the MAAC record with a finishing time of 40.86, breaking the previous record by 0.05 seconds (Monmouth, 40.91, 2016).
  • Marist’s Glenmour Leonard-Osbourne broke the MAAC outdoor record in the men’s 200m dash with a 21.05 finish breaking the previous record by 0.05 seconds (David Payne, Rider, 21.10, 2007)
