EDISON, NJ (July 21, 2022) – The Association of College Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) recognized nine Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) water polo programs and 124 student-athletes for their success in the classroom during the 2021-22 academic year, the organization announced earlier this week.
To earn the Team All-Academic recognition, a program must maintain a cumulative GPA above a 3.0. The highest team mark this past year in the MAAC was held by Wagner College, the 2022 MAAC Water Polo Champions who held a 3.70 GPA, the fifth best mark in the country.
Individually, student-athletes are broken down by GPA into three categories: Outstanding, Superior, Excellent. “Outstanding” distinction is awarded to student-athletes who possess between a 3.71- 4.0 cumulative GPA. To earn “Superior” distinction, a student-athlete must hold between 3.41-3.70 cumulative GPA and “Excellent” distinction is awarded to those who have a GPA between a 3.20-3.40.
La Salle University led the MAAC with 13 student-athletes who earned Outstanding honors and 18 student-athletes in total who earned recognition.
