The senior had a strong showing in the Red Foxes first non-conference game of the season. Cruz collected points on both goals, assisting on the first and scoring the second, propelling Marist to a 2-0 victory over Howard and three points in the game.
Defensive Player of the Week
Greg Monroe, Siena
Gr., Clifton Park, NY, Shenendehowa
Monroe began the year with his 11th career clean sheet in-goal, moving into a tie for the second-most shutouts in program history. He made three saves in the second half of Siena's 1-0 win over Sacred Heart to collect his 21st career win in-goal, tying him for the most in program history.
Rookie of the Week
Kaea Rangihaeata, Fairfield
Fr., Auckland, New Zealand
Kaea Rangihaeata picked up his collegiate point by setting up the game's lone goal against Navy. The freshman secured the ball about 40 yards from the goal, made a run down the left side and sent a cross to the foot of teammate Raz Amir who finished in the 52nd minute. He came off the bench in both games, playing 71 minutes over the two games.
The 2022 MAAC Men's Soccer Championship will take place from November 6 through 13. The six-team, single-elimination championship will be hosted by the higher seed of each match. The opening round will take place on Sunday, November 6, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, November 10, and concluding with the championship match on Sunday, November 13.
