EDISON, NJ (Aug. 30, 2022) – Siena College improved to 2-0 for the first time in eight seasons following a comeback win over UMass Lowell and Marist College played Colgate to a 1-1 draw to also remain unbeaten on Monday to highlight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men’s soccer action. Both the Saints and Red Foxes are the lone unbeatens in MAAC men’s soccer.

Siena Men's Soccer battled back from an early deficit, using a late goal to earn a 2-1 victory over UMass Lowell at Hickey Field in its home opener Monday afternoon. The Saints advance to 2-0 for the first time in eight seasons and secured a win in each of its first two matches for only the fourth time in its varsity history. Graduate student goalkeeper Greg Monroe recording his 22nd career victory in-net for the most wins by a keeper in program history, while making five saves in the win. Trialing 1-0, sophomore Zach Gardner found the back of the net for the first time this season off of a header to even the match. In the 83rd minute of play, sophomore Thomas Storodegard played a ball from junior Cole Hellert into the top left corner of the box and finishing with a strike for the game-winning goal.

The Marist men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw on Monday night against Colgate in their second non-conference game of the season. In the 64th minute, Jared Juleau was able to capitalize off a deflection and find the back of the net, giving the Red Foxes a 1-0 lead. In the 87th minute, Colgate was able to find the equalizer, leading to the draw.

The Iona University men's soccer team dropped Monday’s contest, 2-1, at Long Island University. Sergio Gonzalez Fernandez converted a penalty kick in the second half to cut Iona's deficit in half, but the Gaels could not find an equalizer. Iona outshot the Sharks 19-7 in the game and posted a 6-5 shots on goal edge.

The Saint Peter's University men's soccer team lost to Stony Brook 4-1 on Monday night. Senior defender Tom Climpson scored the lone goal for the Peacocks in the 35th minute off a feed from freshman midfielder Reiss Skeen to tie the match at 1-1. Stony Brook would go on to score three unanswered goals in the second half to defeat the Peacocks.
The 2022 MAAC Men's Soccer Championship will take place from November 6 through 13. The six-team, single-elimination championship will be hosted by the higher seed of each match. The opening round will take place on Sunday, November 6, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, November 10, and concluding with the championship match on Sunday, November 13.
