LOUISVILLE, KY (Aug. 5, 2022) – Earlier this week, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced its 2021-22 Easton/NFCA Team GPA and All-American Scholar Athletes. The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) had six teams represented for their Team GPA and 88 student-athletes from seven MAAC institutions earn scholar athlete recognition.
The six MAAC institutions to claim Easton/NFCA Team GPA were Canisius College, Fairfield University, Manhattan College, Rider University, Saint Peter’s University and Siena College. Those six schools plus Iona University also placed 88 total athletes on the Easton/NFCA All-American Scholar Athletes list. Canisius and Manhattan led all MAAC teams with 15 total honorees, followed by 14 from Saint Peter’s, and 13 each by Fairfield and Rider. Iona was next with 11 and Siena followed with seven members.
The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association’s membership categories. In total, 7,527 student-athletes across all three NCAA Divisions, Junior Colleges, and NAIA, which posted a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for 2021-22 were honored as scholar-athletes.
