Sasha van der Merwe, Marist

In three matches at the URI Invite, Sasha van der Merwe averaged 5.00 kills and 2.09 digs per set. She recorded 55 kills for the Red Foxes, hitting .313. With 31 kills against URI, van der Merwe tied for the second-highest single match in program history.
Libero of the Week
Bree Long, Canisius
Sr., Temperance, MI, Bedford High School
At the 2022 Western New York Invitational, Long totaled 64 digs with a season- and tournament-best 27 coming against Bucknell. Long also became the fourth player in program history to record 1,500 digs and ranks second in the MAAC for both total digs (159) and digs per set (4.54).
Rookie of the Week
Ella Bourque, Canisius
Fr., Yorkville, IL, Yorkville High School
Ella Bourque played in all 11 sets this past weekend at the 2022 Western New York Invitational. She had 96 assists, which led her team, with four kills and two service assists over three matches. Against Buffalo, Bourque had a tournament-best 39 assists. Across the nation, her weekend performances put her in the top five for total assists by a freshman and top 25 for total assists overall. She ranks first in the MAAC for both total assists and assists per set. The honor marks Bourque's third Rookie of the Week selection this season.
The 2022 MAAC Volleyball Championship takes place from November 16 through 19 at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, FL. The 10-team, single-elimination championship will feature four rounds of action with the opening round taking place on Wednesday, November 16, followed by the quarterfinals on Thursday, November 17, the semifinals on Friday, November 18, and concluding with the championship match on Saturday, November 19.
