Marist Uses Late Goal to Defeat Bryant in MAAC Men’s Soccer on Tuesday

EDISON, NJ (Sep. 21, 2022) – Marist College got back in the win column of Tuesday, following a 1-0 win to headline Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men’s soccer. The win was the fourth of the season for the Red Foxes, who sit tied for first place in the league standings at 4-1-1.

The Marist men's soccer team defeated Bryant by a final score of 1-0 on Tuesday afternoon in Smithfield, Rhode Island. The Red Foxes scored the lone goal of the game in the 70th minute when Jared Juleau played a through ball to Hugo Guerra, who found the back of the net to give Marist a late 1-0 lead. Marist allowed a season-low one shot on goal and recorded a 23-3 shot advantage, the largest advantage for the team this season. It was also Marist’s third clean sheet of the season.

Cornell netted five goals in the first 30 minutes of the match to earn the 8-0 victory over Canisius Tuesday evening in collegiate men's soccer action at Berman Field in Ithaca, NY. William Howard made a season-high 10 stops in the match, the fourth game of his career with Canisius where he made 10 or more saves.

The Saint Peter's University men's soccer team lost to Lafayette 2-1 on Tuesday night. Freshman midfielder Lex Vaughan provided the goal for the Peacocks off an assist from freshman classmate Reiss Skeen early in the second half.
 
The 2022 MAAC Men's Soccer Championship will take place from November 6 through 13. The six-team, single-elimination championship will be hosted by the higher seed of each match. The opening round will take place on Sunday, November 6, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, November 10, and concluding with the championship match on Sunday, November 13.
