EDISON, NJ (Sep. 22, 2022) – Manhattan College and Quinnipiac University each scored home victories on Wednesday as Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men’s soccer non-conference play dwindles down. The Jaspers’ secured its second clean sheet of the season, while the Bobcats put together their most impressive offensive output since joining Division I.

Manhattan men’s soccer emerged victorious over FDU Wednesday night at Gaelic Park, 2-0, to conclude the team's non-conference portion of the schedule. Manhattan struck early in the first half. In the sixth minute, Johan Velez netted his second goal of the season by beating the Knights' keeper low. In the 52nd minute, Velez collected a rebound and scored his second tally of the game to put the Jaspers ahead 2-0. It was Velez’s first collegiate multi-goal performance. Danny DiMarco got the nod in net and turned in his second clean sheet of the season while stopping three shots.

Quinnipiac men's soccer cruised past Stonehill, 7-2, on Wednesday afternoon at the QU Soccer Stadium in Hamden. Sam McCann recorded a hat trick, Alexander Stjernegaard scored twice, and David Bercedo and Ramesh Delsouz each added one goal in the win, while eight different Bobcats tallied a point. The seven goals were a Division I program record for Quinnipiac. The Bobcats outshot 28-9 and recorded 15 shots on goal – the most shots on target the team has attempted in the Division I era.

St. Bonaventure scored the game-winner in the 87th minute to earn a 2-1 win over Niagara on Wednesday. St. Bonaventure struck first, finding the back of the net in the 39th minute. The Purple Eagles would tie things up in the 52nd minute, with Rodrigo Almeida heading in a cross from Cameron Roach. The game would remain knotted up until St. Bonaventure scored the late goal to steal the road win.

Siena College broke a three-match unbeaten streak Wednesday afternoon at Hickey Field with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of #22 Vermont. Vermont scored goals in the 26th minute, 56th minute, and 83rd minute. Siena graduate student goalkeeper Greg Monroe registered five saves.
The 2022 MAAC Men's Soccer Championship will take place from November 6 through 13. The six-team, single-elimination championship will be hosted by the higher seed of each match. The opening round will take place on Sunday, November 6, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, November 10, and concluding with the championship match on Sunday, November 13.
