Fairfield's Johnson, Iona's Matschner, Canisius' Bourque Earn Molten MAAC Volleyball Weekly Awards

Player of the Week
KJ Johnson, Fairfield
Sr., Pearland, TX, Glenda Dawson High School

Johnson was the MVP of the Villanova Classic as the Stags went 3-0 against New Hampshire, Lafayette and host Villanova. Johnson averaged 3.73 kills per set on .309 hitting for the weekend. She added 1.55 digs per stanza and chipped in six blocks and an ace in her 11 sets of work to round out 4.09 points per frame.

Libero of the Week
Hope Matschner, Iona
Jr., Winter Springs, FL, Winter Springs High School
 
In a 2-1 weekend for the Gaels, Matschner recorded 20 or more digs in all three contest averaging 5.9 digs per set. In Iona's come-from-behind victory against Akron, Matschner poured in a match-high 27 digs on a perfect service return percentage. The junior continues to lead all of Division 1 in digs per set at 6.96 and total digs at 160 through six matches. This is Matschner's second Libero of the Week honor of the 2022 campaign.

Rookie of the Week
Ella Bourque, Canisius
Fr., Yorkville, IL, Yorkville High School

Bourque had another impressive weekend, racking up 101 assists across three matches at the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational. Her 215 total assists are first both in the conference and on the team, and she ranked 43rd in the country, as well. She chipped in 28 digs and three kills at the Robert Morris/Duquesne Invitational. This is Bourque's second Rookie of the Week honor of the 2022 campaign.
  
The 2022 MAAC Volleyball Championship takes place from November 16 through 19 at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, FL. The 10-team, single-elimination championship will feature four rounds of action with the opening round taking place on Wednesday, November 16, followed by the quarterfinals on Thursday, November 17, the semifinals on Friday, November 18, and concluding with the championship match on Saturday, November 19.
