Edison, NJ (Jan. 11, 2023) – Siena’s Michael Baer and Iona’s Kate Mager have been named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Student-Athletes of the Week.

Men’s Basketball
Currently in his second season with the Green and Gold after spending his undergraduate career at the University of Iowa, Baer has made 44 appearances and six starts for the Saints and serves as a member of the team's Leadership Council for the 2022-23 season. He has provided solid depth at the 4 and 5 spots for Siena over the past two seasons and recorded a Siena-best ten points during the team's win over Canisius on Dec. 2, 2022. A three-time member of the NABC Honors Court during his collegiate career and a MAAC Academic Honor Roll selection last season, Baer holds a 3.66 cumulative GPA while pursuing his MBA with a concentration in Finance from Siena.

Iona
Women’s Basketball
Kate Mager erupted for a season-high 24 points in a win over Niagara, shooting 9-of-12 from the field with 6 three-pointers made. Mager followed that up with 15 points in a road win at Rider, connecting on five more threes. For the week, Mager averaged 19.5 points and shot 14-21 (66.7%) overall and 11-18 (61.1%) from three-point range, helping Iona to a pair of wins and a share of first place in the MAAC standings.
