Marist’s Baumgarten, Brard, and Sanchez Earn KAP7 Water Polo Weekly Awards

Offensive Player of the Week
Ella Baumgarten, Marist

Marist sophomore, Ella Baumgarten, is this week’s MAAC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring four goals in a win over 20th ranked Loyola Marymount University. Baumgarten recorded nine shots on goal during the Rainbow Invite boasting a 44 percent goal percentage.
 
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Kaylee Brard, Marist
Jr., Northridge, CA, Granada Hills Charter
 
Kaylee Brard is this week’s MAAC Defensive Player of the Week after scoring two goals and dishing out an assist against Loyola Marymount University. Brard tallied a goal against San Jose State University and recorded nine total shots during the Rainbow Invite with a 33 percent goal percentage.
 
Rookie of the Week
Inés Sánchez, Marist
Fr., Barcelona, Spain, Voramon
 
Inés Sánchez earns Rookie of the Week honors after recording a steal and eight saves in a win against 20th ranked Loyola Marymount University. Sánchez also recorded eight saves against sixth ranked Hawaii.

The 2023 MAAC Water Polo Championship will be held at McCann Natatorium on the campus of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Marist has hosted the Water Polo Championship since 2003. The opening round begins Friday, April 28, followed by the semifinal round on Saturday, April 29, and the final round will take place on Sunday, April 30.
