Iona’s Camilion and Siena’s Seppala Claim Hercules Tires MAAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards

Juana Camilion earns MAAC Player of the Week honors for the first time this season after averaging 21.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.5 steals to lead Iona to a perfect 2-0 weekend in conference play. Camilion has been a key piece to the success of an Iona team enjoying a current seven-game win streak that includes a record setting performance against Rider on 1/19 where the team broke an NCAA record for consecutive three’s (15) and three-point percentage (88.9%). In the win over Rider, Camilion recorded 21 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals. That performance was then followed up with a 21 point, nine rebound, four assist outing in a win over Siena on 1/21.  Camilion is one of Iona’s statistical leaders averaging 14.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game.
 
 
 
Rookie of the Week
Teresa Seppala, Siena

Teresa Seppala claims MAAC Rookie of the Week honors for the third week in a row and fifth time this season. Seppala’s play helped Siena go 1-1 in conference play over the weekend, highlighted by a 17 point, eight rebound, three steal performance in a tough two-point loss to Iona on 1/21.  In two games this week, Seppala averaged 12.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. On the season, the freshman has started 13 of Siena’s 19 games and holds averages of 9.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game.
