EDISON, NJ (Jan. 29, 2023) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men’s basketball league slate for Saturday featured a standalone contest between the conference’s defending champion Saint Peter’s University and league newcomer Mount St. Mary’s University, with the Peacocks coming away with a second half comeback road victory over the Mountaineers.

Saint Peter's used a second half offensive eruption to knock off Mount St. Mary’s, 73-62, on the road in front of a near sellout crowd at Knott Arena. The Peacocks improve to 4-8 in league play, while the Mountaineers drop to 3-8 on the season. It was a tale of two halves for both teams, as the Mount held a 12-point lead at halftime, holding a 38-26 advantage. The Mount shot 48.3 percent (14-of-29) from the field and 53.8 percent (7-of-13) from three-point range in the half. In the second half, it was the Peacocks turn to control the game, outscoring the Mount 47-24, propelling the road team to an 11-point victory. SPU shot 59.1 percent (13-of-22) from the field and 55.6 percent (5-of-9) from beyond the three-point arc in the second half. Three Peacocks scored in double figures with Jaylen Murray leading the way with a team-best 18 points, followed by 15 points from Isiah Dasher and 11 points coming from Latrell Reid. Jalen Benjamin led the Mount with a game-high 21 points, while Dakota Leffew scored 17 points and Jedy Cordilia added 10 points.
