Marist’s Barry and Mount St. Mary’s Sloan Named Hercules Tires MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Edison, NJ (Feb. 1, 2023) – Marist’s Carson Barry and Mount St. Mary’s Hannah Sloan have been named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Student-Athletes of the Week.

Men’s Swimming & Diving
 
Carson Barry is a five-year member of the swim and dive program who has provided leadership in and out of the pool. He is a captain for the team who is a three-time MAAC All-Academic team honoree. Barry made appearances in the one-meter and three-meter dives in the 2019 and 2020 MAAC Championships. This season, Barry placed third on the podium at the ECAC Championships in the one-meter dive. Barry is a graduate student who is pursuing his Master’s in Integrated Marketing Communication and majored in communication as an undergraduate. He also achieved Dean’s List honoree twice during his time at Marist.
 
Hannah Sloan
Mount St. Mary’s
Women’s Swimming & Diving
 
Sloan is a Paralympian, competing in U.S. Paralympic events over the past several years. Most recently she competed in six events at the 2022 U.S. Paralympics Swimming National Championships. Her top placement was an 11th place showing in the 400 freestyle with a time of 5:56.64. Paralympic events divide into 14 categories based on availability, and Sloan generally competes at the S9 and S10 levels. The Carroll County, Maryland native lives with ataxic cerebral palsy and began swimming as a therapeutic venture before turning to a competitive athletic career.
