Marist’s Rodriguez and Saint Peters’ Hackett Named Hercules Tires MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week


Male Student-Athlete of the Week
Gabriel Rodriguez - Marist Cross Country/Track & Field
Jr., Cherry Hill, NJ, Cherry Hill East
 
Gabriel Rodriguez is a standout performer both athletically and academically. Last week, Rodriguez was Marist's leading runner as the Red Foxes competed at the prestigious Paul Short Run, placing 61st in the Brown Race, which had 400 finishers. In his first two races this season, he finished 12th at the Marist Season Opener and 23rd at the Jasper Fall Cross Country Invitational. At last season's MAAC Championships, Rodriguez placed 23rd overall and had the Red Foxes' third-best finish.
 
Rodriguez is an Economics major who was named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District last year. He is a three-time selection to Marist's Dean's List, and has been honored on the MAAC All-Academic Team and MAAC Academic Honor Roll.
 
Female Student-Athlete of the Week
Alyssa Hackett - Saint Peter's Women's Soccer
Soph., Spencerport, NY, Spencerport
 
The New York native has headlined the Saint Peter's women's soccer team this season. The SPU standout has put together an impressive sophomore campaign as she currently leads the Peacocks in goals and assists this season with four each. Hackett's most notable performance was when she tallied two goals and distributed three assists in SPU's 5-2 win over Hampton on Aug. 26. Additionally, the SPU sophomore has started in every match this season for the Peacocks and leads the team in points with 12.
