MAAC Announces Swimming & Diving Weekly Award Honorees

Men’s Swimmer of the Week:
Kieran Egan, Iona
Fr., Sunnyside, NYFordham Prep
 
In a win over Providence, Egan earned two individual wins and two relay wins, his two individual wins came in the 200-free (1:39.62), and the 200-back (1:48.21). The freshman set a school record split with a time of 23.13 in the 50-back part of the 200 Medley relay team. He was part of the winning 200-free relay team as well.
 
Men’s Diver of the Week:
Marcas Racevicius, Rider
Sr., Watertown, CTHoly Cross High School
 
Racevicius won both the 1-meter and the 3-meter in Rider's dual meet against Marist. The senior scored 277.50 on the 1-meter and 298.80 on the 3-meter.
  
Women’s Swimmer of the Week:
Natalie Killion, Niagara
Fr., Lockport, NY, Lockport
 
Killion won all three events she competed in during Niagara’s tri-meet with YSU and SFU. She started the day with a win in the 100 back with a time of 56.57, followed by a victory in the 200 back with a time of 2:03.75. She capped off her Sunday afternoon with a win in the 500 free, clocking in at 5:04.41. Her 200 back and 500 free times are best in the MAAC this season.
 
Women’s Diver of the Week:
Lia Oppenheim, Fairfield
Fr., Sudbury, MA, Lincoln-Sudbury
 
Lia Oppenheim posted victories in four events over the weekend, beginning with a first-place finish in the 1 meter (222.60 points) and the 3 meter (227.48) in a dual meet win against Providence. She came back with another pair of wins in the 1 meter (219.30) and the 3 meter (207.30) in a dual win versus Wagner.
 
The 2024 MAAC Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Championships is a four-day meet that will take place February 14-17, 2024 at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The 2024 championships will be the first time the meet is held at SPIRE Institute. With 11 institutions strongly bound by the sound principles of quality and integrity in academics and excellence in athletics, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) is in its 43rd year of competition during the 2023-24 academic year. Current conference members include: Canisius University, Fairfield University, Iona University, Manhattan College, Marist College, Mount St. Mary’s University, Niagara University, Quinnipiac University, Rider University, Saint Peter’s University, and Siena College. Merrimack College and Sacred Heart University will join the MAAC as full members in the 2024-25 academic year, expanding the conference to 13 institutions.
