Mount St. Mary’s Fitch and Marist’s Lewis Named Hercules Tires MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Male Student-Athlete of the Week
Jason Fitch, Mount St. Mary’s, Swimming & Diving
Sr., Middle River, MD. /Calvert Hall
 
Fitch is a four-year student-athlete for the Mountaineers’ swimming & diving team and has also earned a pair of varsity letters for the water polo team. Specializing in the backstroke, he holds the school’s record in both the 100 and 200 backstroke events for yards and meters. In the Mount’s meet with VMI, Fitch won both events which helped boost the team to a 151-142 victory. For his ultimate year, he possesses five individual victories and assisted on three medley relay wins during the fall season. In addition to his swimming abilities, Fitch is a member of the school’s Army ROTC unit.
 
Female Student-Athlete of the Week
Claire Lewis, Marist, Women's Volleyball
Jr., Peachtree City, GA., MacIntosh High School/Georgia State

Claire Lewis is a high achiever on the court for the Marist volleyball team as well as in the classroom. She is the MAAC leader in assists per set at 10.42, which ranks 28th nationally. Her stellar play as a setter has helped Sasha van der Merwe and Jordan Newblatt both rank in the conference's top four in kills and points per set. Claire is a Psychology/Child Education major. She has excelled in the classroom and has been named to Marist's Dean's List in each of her two prior semesters on campus.
