Iona’s DeAngelo and Marist’s Corsentino Pick Up Hercules Tires MAAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards

Sierra DeAngelo paced the Iona women’s basketball team with 23.5 points per game and 11.0 rebounds per game in a pair of contests in Florida this week. In Iona’s narrow 74-72 overtime loss to Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday night, she tied her career-high with 30 points, chipping in a career-best 12 made field goals to that total. She also set a new career-high with 13 rebounds. DeAngelo’s scoring output and made field goals set a new league single-game high for the season. She followed that performance with a game-high 17 points and nine rebounds in a 71-62 setback at Stetson on Saturday. DeAngelo currently ranks sixth among league leaders in scoring with 15.5 points per game to start the season.
 
 
Rookie of the Week
Julia Corsentino, Marist

Julia Corsentino was one of the most influential players on the court for the Red Foxes in the team's 84-76 OT victory over Lafayette on Nov. 15. Her first time as a starter at the collegiate level, Corsentino put up the most points in a single-game by a MAAC freshman so far this season with 23  (as Nov. 16, ties her at fourth overall in MAAC single-game scoring.) Corsentino added three steals, two assists and two rebounds to her performance against the Leopards. She was lethal on the ball with seven field goals, which includes sinking four of her six 3PT attempts. She ended the night with a .538 FG%.
