EDISON, NJ (Nov. 4, 2023) – The final match of the 2023 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women’s Soccer Championship is set to take place at noon on Sunday, November 5 at the Quinnipiac Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium in Hamden, CT. Connecticut rivals, No. 1 Quinnipiac and No. 2 Fairfield will battle for the league crown on ESPN+.

Top-seeded Quinnipiac welcomes No.2 Fairfield Stag to Hamden, CT for a showdown between in-state rivals and the MAAC Championship title. Quinnipiac qualified for its third straight MAAC final --- fourth overall --- by way of a 1-0 victory over No. 6 Rider in the semifinals. 2023 MAAC Golden Boot, Courtney Chochol, scored the game’s lone goal by way of a penalty kick in the 46
th minute to put the Bobcat back in the title match. The Bobcat squad has been dominating the MAAC for over a calendar year, having won 15 straight games against conference opponents dating back to last season. Quinnipiac will to win its second straight title and seeking to be the first program to win back-to-back MAAC trophies since former league foe Monmouth won four straight from 2016 through 2019. Fairfield will play in the women’s soccer final for a MAAC-high 12
th time, the first time since 2019, and will be looking to win its MAAC-leading eighth championship crown, the first since 2008. The Stags used a second half offensive explosion to get past No. 4 Mount St. Mary’s in the semifinal round, defeating them 3-0. Maddy Theriault led the Stags offense on Thursday, scoring two of the three goals with Allie Kirby netting the third. When the two finalists met in the regular season, the Bobcats topped the Stags 3-1 on October 4. The last time they met in the playoffs, Quinnipiac defeated Fairfield, 1-0 in double overtime of the 2020-21 MAAC Championship opening round.
The winner of the 2023 MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship will earn an automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer Championship.
