Youri Fritz, Canisius, Men’s Basketball

Canisius sophomore forward Youri Fritz is one of four Golden Griffins to start in all 12 games to this point in the 2023-24 season, just one year after he missed the team’s final 20 contests due to a knee injury. Fritz is averaging 6.3 points per game, and his 4.6 rebounds per contest ranks second on the Canisius roster. Earlier this season, he scored a career-high 12 points in a win over Wofford, and earlier this month, he grabbed a career best 12 rebounds in the team’s home win over Robert Morris. In the classroom, Fritz hold a 3.42 grade point average as an exercise and sport science major

Female Student-Athlete of the Week
Jessica Tomasett, Mount St. Mary’s, Women’s Basketball
Sr., North Potomac, MD, Our Lady of Good Counsel

Tomasetti has been an impact player for Mount St. Mary’s women’s basketball since she arrived in Emmitsburg as a freshman and is now a bedrock of the team as a senior. With 733 points, Tomasetti is on the precipice of cracking the top 50 in program history for scoring. Recently, she crossed the qualifying threshold for career free throw percentage at the Mount, sitting fifth at present with 80.6 of attempts made. This season “Jess” averages 10.8 points and 5.1 rebounds a contest, with 20 assists and 13 steals this year.
