Mount St. Mary’s Duo of Leffew and Montgomery Sweep Hercules Tires MAAC Men’s Basketball Weekly Awards

Leffew averaged 22.0 points, 5.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals for the Mount this week. He scored 20 or more points in each game this week, stretching his streak of 20-point games to four. Against Manhattan, Leffew had 21 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals in the 75-74 overtime loss. His basket with 32 seconds left in overtime put the Mount ahead, 74-72. He followed with his best game of the season, matching his career high with 23 points in the Mount's rout of Siena. He was 9-for-10 from the field while hitting all five of his three-point attempts in the 80-48 victory, adding eight assists in the game.
 
Rookie of the Week

Montgomery was sensational for the Mount this week, averaging 21.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.5 steals, 2.5 blocks and 1.0 assists. In the Mount's 80-48 win over Siena, Montgomery erupted for a career high 27 points while adding six rebounds, four blocks and four steals. He is just the ninth player in NCAA Division I over the past 14 seasons to have that stat line. His 27 point effort is the most by a Mount freshman since 2013. He opened the week with 15 points, four rebounds and five steals in the overtime loss at Manhattan, his second consecutive game with five steals. He shot 17-of-30 (.567) from the field and 3-of-5 (.600) from three-point range on the week.
