Male Student-Athlete of the Week
Paul Otieno, Quinnipiac, Men's Basketball

Otieno has helped lead Quinnipiac men’s basketball to a 6-2 start to the 2023-24 season. The Bobcats’ big man recorded 27 points, 13 rebounds and 3 blocks over QU’s two MAAC games this past weekend in Buffalo. He shot 11-of-14 from the floor, and turned in a 15-point, 9-rebound performance during Sunday’s win at Niagara. Otieno currently ranks third on the team in scoring (10.4 PPG) and leads QU in rebounding (5.6 RPG) through eight contests. The Preseason All-MAAC selection is shooting a team-best 65.5% from the floor this year.
Female Student-Athlete of the Week
Natalia Otkhmezuri, Iona, Women's Basketball
Gr., Tbilsi, Republic of Georgia / Southern Utah
Otkhmezuri led the Gaels to two wins on the week and scored 21 points in the Gaels first win over a Big East opponent since 2006. Over the week she averaged 15 points per game, 3.7 rebounds, and shot well over 50% from the field (12-21). She also added two assists and two steals in 30 mins per game. On the season she is shooting 48.4% from the field, 34.5% from three and over 85% from the free throw line.
