Iona’s Faughnan, Mount St. Mary’s Bonner, and the Siena Pair of Ivanovich and Spenziero Win MAAC Swimming & Diving Weekly Honors

Men’s Swimmer of the Week:
Michael Faughnan, Iona
Sr., Hopewell Junction, NYOur Lady of Lourdes
 
Faughnan led the Gaels to a fourth place finish at ECAC's where he won the 500-free (4:21.29), won the 200-free (1:35.28), and won the 200-back stroke (1:44.42). In the men's 1650 Michael Faughnan added a third place finish (15:48.71). In all three wins for the senior, he set new ECAC meet records. He also helped the Gaels to a couple top three relay finishes.
 
Men’s Diver of the Week:
Timmy Bonner, Mount St. Mary’s
Gr., Glenelg, MD, Glenelg High
 
Bonner topped a personal best and school record with a point-total of 188.20 in the 1-meter diving event at the H2O Hounds Invitational. His 188.20 point total placed him fifth at the meet.
 
Women’s Swimmer of the Week:
Hope Ivanovich, Siena
Fr., Trumbull, CT, Trumbull
 
Ivanovich recorded three top-ten program times at the ECAC Winter Championships. She went six hundredths of a second off the school record in the 200 fly (2:06.10) while qualifying for the "A" final and finishing fifth. Ivanovich recorded the fourth-fastest time in program history in the 100 fly (57.30). She recorded the fourth-fastest time in program history in the 500 free (5:05.85). Ivanovich was also part of Siena's 400 medley relay that went a 3:56.07, part of the 200 medley relay that went a 1:48.22, the 800 free relay team that went a 7:46.06, and the 400 free relay that went a 3:31.79.
 
Women’s Diver of the Week:
Talia Spenziero, Siena
Sr., Clifton Park, NY, Shenendehowa
 
Spenziero continued her dominating season in the pool for Siena. She finished third in third in one-meter diving (229.10) and fourth in three-meter diving (208.30) at ECAC Winter Championships. The weekly award is the fifth of the season for Spenziero.
 
The 2024 MAAC Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Championships is a four-day meet that will take place February 14-17, 2024 at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The 2024 championships will be the first time the meet is held at SPIRE Institute.
