Niagara’s Garlow and Canisius’ Chu Win the First TicketSmarter Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards of 2023

The Preseason All-MAAC selection tallied six points in Niagara's 13-5 season-opening win over St. Bonaventure on Saturday. Garlow scored four goals and added two assists to pace the Purple Eagles. The senior attack also caused a turnover and picked up a pair of ground balls in the win.
 
Defensive Player of the Week/Rookie of the Week:
Jody Chu, Canisius
Fr., South Riding, PA, Freedom
 
Freshman Jody Chu had a debut to remember in Canisius’ 16-5 victory over Detroit Mercy on Sunday. Chu made 10 saves on 15 shots, while also picking up four ground balls in the win.

The 2023 MAAC Women's Lacrosse Championship is a six-team, single-elimination tournament taking place April 30 - May 7, 2023. The Opening Round will take place on Sunday, April 30 and will be hosted by the third and fourth seeds. The semifinal and final are set for Friday, May 5 and Sunday, May 7, with the highest overall seed set to serve as host.
