NEW YORK, NY (Feb. 19, 2023) – Rider University secured the 2023 MAAC Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championship at Nike Track & Field Center at the Armory on Sunday night. The Broncs pulled away late in the meet collecting 193 points to win their second title in the last four years, and third overall in program history.

The Broncs, which held a one-point lead after a gold-less day one, collected a MAAC-high four golds on the final day of the meet. Rider opened up the evening’s action with back-to-back first place finishes in the mile and 60 meter hurdles, with Teagan Schein-Becker and Mariah Stephens, winning the events, respectively. For Stephens, it wouldn’t be her last MAAC championship of the night, as she would also claim the individual title in the triple jump after jumping 11.69 meters. The Broncs fourth gold medal came by way of Natya Glasco, who would win the shot put with a throw of 13.64 meters leading to her title.
Quinnipiac snagged three first place finishes on the night, leading to a second place finish. The Bobcats gold medalist included Rylie Smith (400), Emily Young (800), and the 4x400 relay quartet of Sydney Lavelle, Rylie Smith, Isabella Anzaldo, and Alyssa Romagnoli.
MAAC newcomer, Mount St. Mary’s, completed its first MAAC indoor meet with a third place finish and claimed a pair of gold medals on the last night of the tournament. Both of the Mount’s first place medals were earned by Track Most Outstanding Performer and Rookie of the Meet, Zionna Perez-Tucker, who won the 60 meter dash in 7.59 and 200 in 24.65.
