Iona’s Athias and Canisius’ Eleko Claim Hercules Tires MAAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards

 Iona’s Ketsia Athias claims Player of the Week honors for the first time this season. Athias averaged 17.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.5 blocks per game in two wins for the first place Gaels this past week. Athias put up 22 points, 12 rebounds and six assists in a win over Siena on 2/16 and followed up that performance with a 12-point, 11 rebound game on the road against Mount St. Mary’s. On the season Athias is averaging 11.6 points per game and leads Iona with averages of 7.5 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.  
 
Rookie of the Week
Sisi Eleko, Canisius
Fr., Montreal, Quebec, New Hope Academy
 
Canisius’ Eleko earns Rookie of the Week honors after averaging 10 points per game with a .769 field goal percentage. Eleko helped Canisius go 1-1 in conference play over the past week, putting up 12 points, 2 rebounds and 1 block in a win over Fairfield. On the season Eleko is averaging 8.0 points and 5.3 rebounds.
