Lake Buena Vista, FL (Apr. 19, 2023) –The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships will begin on Friday, April 21 at Disney’s Palm Golf Course.

The MAAC Championships are a three round- 54-hole tournament, that will have the final round of the competition being broadcasted live on ESPN+ at 9:30am. The 2023 MAAC Men’s & Women’s Golf Championships return to Disney’s Palm Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, FL from April 21-23. The 2023 championships will mark the first time since 2013 that Disney’s Palm Golf Course will play host to the conference championship. The Walt Disney World Resort golf courses are operated by Arnold Palmer Golf Management.

On the men’s side, Fairfield was selected at the 2023 MAAC preseason favorites. Despite not winning a MAAC title in over a decade, the Stags have qualified for seven out of the nine tournaments since 2012 and have played in the championship final twice, in 2013 and 2020-21. This season they have been led by Killian McGinley and Jason Salameno who have both claimed MAAC Golfer of the Week honors.

The men’s teams in action will be: Canisius College, Fairfield University, Iona University, Manhattan College, Mount St. Mary’s University, Niagara University, Rider University, Saint Peter’s University and Siena College.

On the MAAC Women’s golf side, Quinnipiac University, the defending champions, were the unanimous preseason favorites. The Bobcats have hoisted six total women’s titles since becoming a member of the MAAC in 2013-14, winning five straight championships from 2014 to 2018, before returning to the top of the league last year in 2022. Quinnipiac has made it to the championship final in all eight seasons that the Bobcats have been in the MAAC, finishing as the runner-up in 2019 and 2020-21. The Bobcats have been led this season by, Leeyen Peralta, a two-time MAAC Golfer of the week and the 2022 McLeod Trophy Award Winner.

The teams competing in the women’s field are the University at Albany, University of Dayton, Fairfield University, La Salle University, Loyola Chicago University, Mount St. Mary’s University, Niagara University, Quinnipiac University, and Siena College.
