Mount St. Mary’s Papadopoulou Headlines 2023 MAAC Women’s Tennis Major Awards; Quinnipiac’s Miller Garners Third Straight Coach of the Year Honor

EDISON, NJ (Apr. 21, 2023) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has revealed the 2023 Women’s Tennis Major Award winners and All-MAAC Teams, voted on by the league’s seven head coaches.

Headlining the major award winners was unanimous 2023 MAAC Player of the Year and 2023 MAAC Rookie of the Year, Victoria Papadopoulou of Mount St. Mary’s. A native of Greece, she went undefeated in conference play this season with a perfect 6-0 mark at #1 singles, leading to a unanimous selection to the All-MAAC First Team at the top singles flight. Papadopoulou posted a 20-3 overall record in singles competition, which also included a 13-2 dual match record while closing out the regular season on a 13-match winning streak. In doubles action, the freshman posted a 12-10 overall tally and picked up VisitNJ MAAC Player of the Week honors on April 19 to close out the regular season.

For the third straight season, Quinnipiac’s Paula Miller has been named as the MAAC Coach of the Year. In 2023 under her leadership, the Bobcats garnered their ninth straight MAAC Women’s Regular Season Championship, compiling a perfect 6-0 conference record and an overall record of 13-8. Since Quinnipiac joined the conference in 2013-14, the Bobcats have won the regular season outright eight times and has compiled a dominating 60-1 MAAC regular season record over the timespan. In addition to claiming the MAAC’s top coaching honor for the past three seasons, Miller won the award four times previously from 2015 through 2018, collecting a total of seven Coach of the Year trophies to date. She has also led the Bobcats to six MAAC Tournament titles and five NCAA Tournament appearances (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2022). Moreover, on March 4 against Niagara, Miller earned her 100th career victory with Quinnipiac.
