Player of the Week

Jamie Sheeran hit safely in all five games this week, finishing the week with a .615/.688/1.385 slash line. Sheeran smashed three homers and drove in five runs; all in all, Sheeran was 8-13 at the plate, scoring four runs and drawing three walks en route to taking home Player of the Week honors.
 
 
Pitcher of the Week
Kara Zazzaro, Iona
Gr., Southington, CT, Southington HS
 
MAAC Pitcher of the Week, Kara Zazzaro, appeared in three games, going 2-0 with a 0.47 ERA and 12 strikeouts over 15.0 innings of work. Zazzaro tossed a complete-game shutout, striking out eight and allowing four hits in a win at Quinnipiac. She followed that up with another complete game, allowing two runs (one earned) in a win at Fairfield. Zazzaro also threw a scoreless inning in relief on Sunday at Fairfield.
 
Rookie of the Week
Maddie Coleman, Mount St. Mary’s
Fr., Ellicott City, MD, Howard HS
 
Maddie Coleman had a great week for the Mount in the circle, going 2-0 with a 0.68 ERA in two appearances.  The freshman closed the week by tossing 3.1 innings of scoreless relief in the Mount's come-from-behind 3-2 win over Siena on Monday in the completion of the halted game from Saturday.  Coleman opened the week with a complete-game 4-1 victory over Maryland-Eastern Shore, striking out six while allowing just four hits.  For the week, she was 2-0 with a 0.68 ERA in 10.1 IP with eight strikeouts while holding opponents to a .139 average.
 
 
The 2023 MAAC Softball Championship is a six-team double elimination tournament taking place between May 10-14, 2023. The championship will be hosted by the highest seed.
