MAAC Announces 2023 Water Polo All-Academic Team

Poughkeepsie, NY (Apr. 27, 2023) – A total of 88 student-athletes were placed on the 2023 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Water Polo All-Academic Team, announced by the league office today.
 
To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
 
LIU placed a league-most 14 student-athletes to the All-Academic Team, followed by Mount St. Mary’s University and Wagner College with 11 selections. St. Francis Brooklyn placed 10 honorees on the team while La Salle University and Marist College had nine members apiece, with Iona University and Villanova University both adding eight players on the lineup. Siena College (6) and VMI (2) closed out the academic team.

The 2023 MAAC Water Polo Championship will be held at McCann Natatorium on the campus of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Marist has hosted the Water Polo Championship since 2003. The opening round begins Friday, April 28, followed by the semifinal round on Saturday, April 29, and the final round will take place on Sunday, April 30.
