Mount St. Mary’s Kelly Goin finished the week with nine points in a 2-0 week for the Mount. Gouin secured a hat trick in the first quarter against Quinnipiac en route to a five-goal game. Since moving to the attack four games ago, he has scored 16 goals to go along with a pair of assists.
Defensive Player of the Week
Christopher Yanchoris, Siena
5-Yr., Sykesville, MD, Century
The fifth-year goalkeeper made a combined 34 saves to earn two wins (10-9 in overtime at Canisius on Wednesday and 13-6 against Wagner College on Saturday), allowed 7.5 goals per contest and collected four ground balls to earn Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Face-Off Player of the Week
Connor Beals, Mount St. Mary's
Sr., Wixom, MI, Detroit Catholic Central
Mount St. Mary’s senior, Connor Beals, had an impressive outing during the Mount's 20-5 win over VMI, earning face off wins at a clip of 79 percent (15 wins, 4 losses). Beals continued his solid performance by winning 13 of 21 chances in the Quinnipiac game, an 18-11 victory. Beals currently stands as the MAAC leader in faceoff percentage for the year at .617, with 116 wins to 72 losses.
Rookie of the Week
TJ Gravante, Mount St. Mary’s
Fr., Frederick, MD, Hun School
Mount St. Mary’s freshman, TJ Gravante claims back-to-back Rookie of the Week honors after he earned five points (three goals, two assists) and four ground balls during the Mount's 2-0 week. Gravante scored a goal with both assists against VMI Wednesday and scored twice against the Bobcats this past Saturday.
The 2023 MAAC Men's Lacrosse Championship will take place between April 29 and May 6, 2023. The six-team, single-elimination tournament will open on Saturday, April 29 with the opening round hosted by the higher seed of each matchup. The semifinals and championship final will be hosted by the highest seed in the field and will be played on Thursday, May 4 and Saturday, May 6.
