Riverdale, NY (May. 4, 2023) – The semifinal round of the 2023 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men’s Lacrosse Championship continued Thursday, May 4, at Manhattan College’s Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.

2023 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship- Semifinal Round
 
No. 3 Marist defeated No. 2 Mount St. Mary’s in the first semifinal matchup of the day. The Red Foxes continue their hot shooting, following up a 29-point outing in the opening round with a 19-point outing in the semifinals.
 
Marist Notes
 
-Marist held a 11-4 lead at the halftime break, led by Jamison Embury and Jojo Pirreca, 3 goals each in 1^st half.
-Hunter Embury recorded 4 total points in the first half (1 goal, 3 assists).
-Marist held a 16-4 lead at the end of the third quarter.
-The Red Foxes continued their hot shooting against Mount St. Mary’s, putting up 19 goals.
- Daniel O’Meara totaled a career high 19 saves for Marist.
-Jamison Embury recorded a hat trick in the contest.
- Marist advances to the title game of the 2023 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship that will take place at 11am on Saturday.
 
Mount St. Mary’s Notes
 
-Kelly Gouin led Mount St. Mary’s in the first half with 2 goals.
- Goalkeeper Andrew Preston recorded 8 saves in the contest for The Mount.
-Mitchell Dunham recorded seven groundballs in the match.
-No. 2 seed Mount St. Mary’s finishes the 2023 season with an overall record of 8-8, 7-2 MAAC.
-The Mountaineers earned a share of the 2023 MAAC Regular Season title.
 
 
No. 4 Siena - 11 | No. 1 Manhattan- 8

In the second semifinal matchup of the day between No.1 Manhattan and No. 4 Siena, Siena upset the top ranked Jaspers in a 11-8 contest. The Saints will advance to the title game of the 2023 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship where they will face the No.3 Marist Red Foxes.       
 
 
Manhattan Notes
 
-Manhattan went on a 3-0 run to end the 3^rd period to tie the game at 6-6.
- James McCoy led Manhattan with two goals in the game.
-Dan MacKinney and Kelly DuPree each recorded two assists on the evening.
-Joseph Persico recorded nine saves in the game.
-Manhattan finishes the season with an overall record of 10-5, 7-2 MAAC.
-Manhattan earned a share of the 2023 MAAC Regular Season title.
 
Siena Notes
 
-Siena led 3-2 at the end of the first period.
-Siena led 6-3 at the half, with Pratt Reynolds leading the way with two goals.
- Siena went on a run in the fourth quarter to seal the upset victory.
-Rocco Santillo led the Saints in points (3 goals, 1 assist).
-Pratt Reynolds and Rocco Santillo each recorded three goals in the contest.
-Chris Yanchoris recorded 12 saves in the win for Siena.
- The Saints will advance to the finals where they will face off against Marist for the MAAC title.
-Siena will play in the MAAC Championship game for the first time since 2014.
 
The 2023 MAAC Men's Lacrosse Championship title game will take place on Saturday, May 6 at 11am and be broadcasted live on ESPNU.
