Men's Basketball 7/7/2023 3:00:00 PM Canisius' Fritz to Play for The Netherlands in FIBA U20 European Championship Canisius forward Youri Fritz is one of 12 players representing the Netherlands in the 2023 FIBA U20 European Division B Championship. This year's FIBA U20 European Division B Championship event is scheduled for July 7-15 in Skopje, the capital city of the Republic of Macedonia. Fritz, who will be a sophomore on the Golden Griffins' 2023-24 roster, is one of three players on the Netherlands' roster that currently plays college basketball in the United States, and he is one of two players from an NCAA Division I school. In his freshman season (2022-23), Fritz played in 10 games before suffering a knee injury in practice in January that ended his year. In those 10 games, he averaged 2.1 points and 2.6 rebounds per contest while playing 9.4 minutes per game in a reserve role. The Netherlands, who enter the tournament ranked No. 33 in the FIBA world rankings, are one of five teams in Group D. In that group, the Dutch squad is joined by Albania, Finland, Latvia and Switzerland. The first game for the Netherlands is set for July 7, at 3 p.m., eastern time.
