Women's Lacrosse 7/14/2023 11:00:00 AM Erica Evans Becomes the First Golden Griffin Signed to Athletes Unlimited Former Canisius standout Erica Evans was officially signed to Athletes Unlimited ahead of the upcoming season, the league announced late Thursday. Evans becomes the first former Canisius athlete to be signed to Athletes Unlimited. Canisius' first ever Tewaaraton Award semifinalist in 2017, Evans ranks first all-time in career goals with 186 while her records for single-season points (91), single-season goals (72), single game goals (8), and single-game draw controls (11) still stand today. Evans was also the first Canisius player to reach 200 career points as a junior during the 2017 season. The Peterborough, Ontario, native was named an the IWLCA Third Team All-American in 2016 while also getting named to their All-West/Midwest Team twice. The three-time MAAC Midfielder of the Year, Evans was also named to the All-MAAC First Team on two occasions (2015 & 2016), MAAC Rookie of the Year (2015) and helped the Griffs capture the 2016 and 2017 MAAC Championship. Off Main Street, Evans would player her final year of collegiate lacrosse with Maryland in 2019, helping the Terps capture the 2019 National Championship with a 12-10 victory over #2 Boston College. While in the Old Line State, Evans was tied for team lead with 59 goals, with 32 of her goals coming over Maryland's final nine games. She also had 15 assists, 74 points, 23 ground balls, 12 draw controls and five caused turnovers across 23 games. Evans is also a member of the Canadian National Team and helped lead the Red and White to the 2017 World Games Silver Medal and gold in the 2022 World Games. She was named to the 2017 Women's Lacrosse World Cup All-World Team after leading Canada to silver medal and played in 2015 U19 World Cup, helping Canada earn the gold medal while also being named to the All-World Team. Athletes Unlimited is a women's professional sports league company that operates in the United States with a focus on basketball, softball, volleyball, and lacrosse.
