Volleyball 7/6/2023 10:30:00 AM Canisius Volleyball's Kehoe Selected for Ireland U22 National Team Volleyball Ireland announced that Canisius setter Shannon Kehoe has been named to their roster ahead of the European Volleyball Confederation U22 Volleyball European Championships 2024 Qualifiers from July 21-23 in Paredes, Portugal. This is not Kehoe's first foray into international play as she has previously represented Ireland on three prior occasions ranging from the U17 to senior level since 2018. The Huntington, N.Y., native has played against national teams from Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Slovenia and the Faroe Islands. In her debut season with the Golden Griffins, she appeared in three matches recording an ace for her first collegiate point against Manhattan in her Blue and Gold debut (Oct. 2). Against Saint Peter's on Oct. 8, Kehoe had a season high three assists in the Griffs 3-1 win. "This is a great opportunity for Shannon as she tries to help Ireland qualify for the U22 European Championships" head coach Tom Hanna said. "The opportunity to play international volleyball as she prepares for our upcoming season is something that will help her development, and our program by extension. I look forward to following her progess in Portugal." The U22 Volleyball European Championships 2024 Qualifiers will feature four groups of four countries with the group winners and top three second place teams each punching their ticket to the 2024 U22 Volleyball European Championships in Italy. The seven qualified teams will join Italy in the finals which will be held next year from June 29 through July 14. Ireland will be in group A accompanied by hosts Portugal along with Denmark and Ukraine. All matches will be streamed on the CEV YouTube channel. Ireland will open the tournament against Portugal on July 21 at 8 p.m. local time (3 p.m. EST).
