Offensive Player of the Week
Ethan Shaw, Rider
Gr., Surf City, NJ, St. John’s/Northern Burlington
Ethan Shaw scored both of the Broncs' goals in a 2-1 win at Sacred Heart on Tuesday and had another cleared off the line in Rider's 1-1 tie at NJIT Friday. The goals were the first two of Shaw's collegiate career following four years at St. John's without a tally.
Defensive Player of the Week
James Anderson, Fairfield
Sr., Clifton, VA, Robinson Secondary
James Anderson picked up a pair of shutouts in two games last week as the Stags defeated Brown and Colgate on the road. Against Brown, Anderson faced 16 shots and made five saves to lead the Stags to a 6-0 win. In the Colgate match, Anderson made one save to secure his second clean sheet. He extended his scoreless minutes streak to 251 dating back to August 27.
Rookie of the Week
Saad Chaouki, Rider
Fr., Montreal, Quebec, Antoine de Saint Exupery
Saad Chaouki recorded a pair of assists last week during a 1-0-1 week for Rider. Chaouki set up both of Ethan Shaw's goals in a 2-1 win at Sacred Heart with corner kicks. The two assists were the first of Chaouki's career.
The 2023 MAAC Men's Soccer Championship will take place from November 5-12. The six-team, single-elimination championship will be hosted by the higher seed of each match. The opening round will take place on Sunday, November 5, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, November 9, and concluding with the championship match on Sunday, November 12.
