Molten MAAC Volleyball Weekly Awards Announced

Iona’s Matschner Wins Third Straight Libero Honor while Quinnipiac’s Giusta Claims Player and Rookie Awards

In a three-game week for the Bobcats, Giusta totaled 39 kills, 19 digs and four service aces to lead Quinnipiac to two wins. She opened the weekend with 21 kills, eight digs and two service aces in a win over Gardner-Webb. For the week, Giusta averaged 3.90 kills per set, 1.90 digs per set, and 4.60 points per set. This is her second and third weekly honors of the year following a Rookie of the Week award last week (Sep. 5).
 
Libero of the Week
Hope Matschner, Iona

Hope Matschner led the Gaels again at the Iona Invitational, averaging 8.00 digs per set and a 97.1% serve reception percentage. Matschner had 20+ digs in all three matches including a season-best 34 in the win over LIU. Matschner leads the NCAA with a 5.86 digs per set average. This is the third consecutive week she has won MAAC Libero of the Week.
 
The 2023 MAAC Volleyball Championship is a six-team, single-elimination championship taking place November 17-19, 2023 at Leo D. Mahoney Arena in Fairfield, CT. Fairfield University will serve as host of the three-day championship with the opening round on Friday, November 17, the semifinals on Saturday, November 18, and the championship match on Saturday, November 19.
