Fairfield’s Theriault, Rider’s Sciancalepore, and Canisius’ Silverman Named Bob McCloskey Insurance MAAC Women’s Soccer Weekly Award Honorees

Offensive Player of the Week
Maddy Theriault, Fairfield

Theriault tallied three goals and dished out an assist in Fairfield's two games this week. She started the week by scoring the go-ahead score in the second half against Sacred Heart. In her first MAAC game of the season, Theriault had a hand in all three goals for the Stags with an assist and a pair of scores in the win over Mount St. Mary's
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Ellie Sciancalepore, Rider
Sr., Randolph, NJ, Randolph
 
Sciancalepore led Rider to a shutout win following the Broncs’ 1-0 victory at Siena Saturday. In the win, Sciancalepore made seven saves, including several highlight reel stops. The clean sheet was the third of the season for the senior keeper.


Rookie of the Week
Nicki Silverman, Canisius
Fr., Ladera Ranch, CA, San Juan Hills
 
In a 1-0-1 week for Canisius, Silverman scored a goal in 2-0 victory over Le Moyne on Wednesday. Silverman’s tally in the win came during the 46th minute of play, giving the Golden Griffins an insurance run during the shutout win. She also added a pair of shots in a 2-2 draw against Manhattan on Saturday.
 
The 2023 MAAC Women's Soccer Championship will take place from October 29 through November 5. The six-team, single-elimination championship will be hosted by the higher seed of each match. The opening round will take place on Sunday, October 29, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, November 2, and concluding with the championship match on Sunday, November 5.
