Jordan Newblatt, Marist

Senior Jordan Newblatt helped the Red Foxes beat MAAC foe Fairfield in 5 sets with a double-double of 20 kills and 12 digs. Earlier in the week against Canisius she tailed 11 kills and 2 blocks in the loss. Bringing her total kills for the week to 31. She also brought in 17 digs over those two matches.
 
Libero of the Week
Hope Matschner, Iona
Sr., Winter Springs, FL, Winter Springs
 
Still leading the way this week is senior libero Hope Matschner. Hope had a dominant week breaking Iona’s single game dig record with 51 in a match against Canisius. Iona was down 2-0 and pulled out 3 straight wins in the final 3 frames to take the 5-set thriller over Canisius. In the match before against Niagara Matschner nearly recorded a double-double with 24 digs and 9 assists. Matschner still leads the NCAA in digs per set with 352 digs (6.5/set). This is the 5th straight weekly award for Iona’s libero.
 
Rookie of the Week
Lauren Hubert, Canisius
Fr., Buffalo, NY, Sweet Home
 
Freshman Lauren Hubert recorded a season high 18 kills and paired it with 23 digs and 3 block assists in a 5 set thriller against Iona. In a 3-0 win against Manhattan earlier in the week she added a team-high 13 digs. Hubert has 130 kills on the year and 100 digs.
 
The 2023 MAAC Volleyball Championship is a six-team, single-elimination championship taking place November 17-19, 2023 at Leo D. Mahoney Arena in Fairfield, CT. Fairfield University will serve as host of the three-day championship with the opening round on Friday, November 17, the semifinals on Saturday, November 18, and the championship match on Saturday, November 19.
