MAAC Women’s Soccer Conference Play Kicks Off Tomorrow

EDISON, NJ (Sep. 8, 2023) – The conference portion of the 2023 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women’s soccer season is set to begin tomorrow, September 9. All 11 MAAC teams will be in action over the course of the weekend, with 10 squads going head-to-head in league play.
 
Headlining the opening day of conference play is a top-5 matchup, kicking off at high noon when Saint Peter’s welcomes Canisius to Jersey City, NJ. The Peacocks currently sit in fifth-place at 2-3, while the Golden Griffins are the top-ranked team on the MAAC leaderboard with a 2-1-3 mark which includes a five-game unbeaten streak. Also beginning league play at noon will be defending MAAC Champion, Quinnipiac, traveling to Western New York for a battle with Niagara. The Bobcats are an even 2-2, having won back-to-back matches heading into the weekend.
 
A pair of matches are set for a 1:00 p.m. start and they include Mount St. Mary’s hosting Iona in Emmitsburg, MD and Manhattan visiting Siena in Loudonville, NY.
 
The final MAAC matchup of the day features Rider taking on Marist in Lawrenceville, NJ under the lights at 7:00 p.m. The Broncs sit in a tie for third-place with Fairfield on the MAAC standings with a 2-3-1 overall record.
 
Fairfield will have a bye during the opening weekend of the MAAC slate and will play host to Syracuse in non-conference action on Sunday, September 10 at 1:00 p.m.

The 2023 MAAC Women's Soccer Championship will take place from October 29 through November 5. The six-team, single-elimination championship will be hosted by the higher seed of each match. The opening round will take place on Sunday, October 29, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, November 2, and concluding with the championship match on Sunday, November 5.
