Fairfield’s Schnapf and Cataldo, Marist’s Conable and Avila Win Jersey Mike’s MAAC Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards

Men’s Co-Swimmer of the Week
Aidan Schnapf, Fairfield
So., Jamison, PALa Salle College HS
 
Aidan Schnapf picked up a first in the 200 free and was a member of the winning 800 free relay in addition to setting a school record in the 200 back during the Terrier Invitational. Schnapf posted the winning time of 1:39.25 in the 200 free and helped the Stags record a combined time of 6:37.94 in the 800 free relay. He posted a school record time of 1:48.08 in the prelims before taking to sixth overall in the final (1:49.37). He also picked up a fourth-place finish in the 400 free with his time of 3:02.27.
 
Men’s Co-Swimmer of the Week
James Conable, Marist
Sr., Alameda, CAEncinal High School
 
James Conable had a dominant weekend at the Patriot Invitational for the Red Foxes. Conable swam for a first-place finish in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:47.13. The time by Conable was a Marist school record and the fastest time in the MAAC this year. Conable also placed second in the 400-yard IM with a time of 3:54.99, which is the leading time in the MAAC for the 2024-25 season.
 
Men’s Diver of the Week
Andrew Cataldo, Fairfield
So., Albany, NY, The Albany Academy
 
Andrew Cataldo was Fairfield's top finisher in both the 1 meter and 3 meter dives at the Terrier Invitational which included Northeastern, Boston University, Boston College, UMass, and NJ Tech. He placed sixth in the 3-meter dive by scoring 255.20 points and followed up with a sixth-place finish in the 1 meter by registering 267.05 points. 
  
Women’s Swimmer of the Week
April Avila, Marist
So., West Deptford, NJ, West Deptford
 
April Avila had a record-breaking weekend at the Patriot Invitational for the Red Foxes. Avila set the program record for the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.94. With the swim, Avila made the NCAA “B” cut for her outstanding performance. Avila placed first in the final heat of the 100-yard breaststroke at the Patriot Invitational. Along with the record-breaking performance, Avila placed third in the 200-yard breaststroke out of 24 finalists with a time of 3:54.99. The time was good for fifth-best in Marist program history and the second-best time in the MAAC for the 2024-25 season.
 
The 2025 MAAC Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Championships is a four-day meet that will take place February 12-15, 2025, and will be hosted at SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio. 2025 will mark the second straight year the championships are hosted at SPIRE.
