EDISON, NJ (Dec. 3, 2024) – The 2024-25 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men’s basketball league slate begins this week with conference action between Wednesday and Sunday, December 4-8. All 13 MAAC men’s squads will take the court twice during the December schedule.
 
The early December portion of the conference schedule officially tips-off tomorrow night on Wednesday, December 4, with a standalone contest between Fairfield and Rider at 7:00 p.m. in Fairfield, CT. Both teams enter the game with 4-4 overall records and sit top five on the league’s standings.
 
League play resumes on Friday, December 6 with a full slate of games. Highlighting league contests on Friday is a 7:00 p.m. clash between Mount St. Mary’s and Marist, currently the top two ranked teams in the MAAC after the opening month. The Mount holds the league’s best overall record at 5-2, winning four out of the past five games and are out to the program’s best start to a season since joining the Division I ranks in 1988-89. The Red Foxes boast a 4-2 record, second-best mark in the conference, and will host Mount St. Mary’s inside of McCann Areana, where the team is a perfect 3-0 this season. Additional games to note will be the inaugural MAAC contests for league newcomers, Merrimack and Sacred Heart. The Warriors will be on the road, taking on Canisius, while the Pioneers will begin their MAAC campaign at home against Iona – both games tip at 7:00 p.m.
 
Opening week will conclude on Sunday, December 8 with another six-game full schedule on the docket. Headlining Sunday’s games is a 1:00 p.m. meeting between Iona and Saint Peter’s in New Rochelle, NY in a battle between the league’s last two MAAC Champions (excluding 2020 when the tournament was not completed) dating back to 2016, with Iona owning six championships and Saint Peter’s owning two titles.
