MAAC Announces 2024 Men’s Lacrosse ESPNU TV Slate

EDISON, NJ (Feb. 1, 2024) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) today announced its ESPNU TV schedule for the upcoming 2024 campaign. For the third consecutive season, a pair of MAAC contests will be flexed to ESPNU with a regular season matchup in April and the 2024 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship title match in May both being elevated to the national network.

The regular season MAAC game that has been flexed to ESPNU will be a marquee contest and a rematch of the 2023 MAAC Championship final, between Marist College and Siena College. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 10 in primetime, with face-off at 8:00 p.m. inside of Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field in Poughkeepsie, NY. This will mark the second straight year that the regular season meeting between the two sides will be elevated to ESPNU, with last year’s contest at Siena earning the national broadcast selection.

The 2024 MAAC Men's Lacrosse Championship final will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the home site of the top overall seed in the field. The championship title game will start at 11 a.m. with the match airing live on ESPNU for the third consecutive season. 2024 will mark the sixth time over the past seven seasons dating back to 2017 in which the MAAC Championship finale will be played on the national stage.

Siena enters the 2024 stanza as the MAAC favorites, according to the Preseason Coaches’ Poll, earning a league-high 92 points in the poll, with five first-place votes. The Saints concluded last season with a 9-7 overall record and 5-4 MAAC mark, advancing to the championship final for the first time since 2014. Overall, Siena is tied for second amongst MAAC members with three total MAAC Championships, winning the league crowns in 2009, 2011, and 2014. The Saints placed a trio of players on the 2024 Preseason All-MAAC Team, with the defensive duo of Brian Mack and Trevor Marsala, along with short-stick midfielder, Matthew Scully earning the preseason nods.

2023 MAAC Champion, Marist College, was selected as a close second in the poll just one point behind Siena, receiving 91 points and the remaining four first-place votes. Last season, the Red Foxes finished 9-7 overall and 6-3 in league action, earning the No. 3 seed in the championship field. Marist would go on to win three straight games, with victories over No. 6 Quinnipiac (29-19), No. 2 Mount St. Mary’s (19-7), and No. 4 Siena (12-7), to clinch its program’s MAAC-leading fourth overall trophy.

The 2024 MAAC Men's Lacrosse Championship will take place between April 27 and May 4, 2024. The six-team, single-elimination tournament will open on Saturday, April 27 with the opening round hosted by the higher seed of each matchup. The semifinals and championship final will be hosted by the highest MAAC full member school in the field and will be played on Thursday, May 2 and Saturday, May 4.
