Rider’s Walsh, Niagara’s Roy, and Siena’s Nicholson Earn Ticket Smarter MAAC Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards

Offensive Player of the Week
Katie Walsh, Rider

Walsh continues to lead the MAAC in goals per game after scoring nine goals and adding four assists as the Broncs improved to 3-0 in their inaugural season. Walsh scored five goals on just five shots and chipped in an assist in a 19-13 win over Saint Francis. The redshirt-sophomore then scored four goals and dished out three assists in a 17-3 victory over CCSU. Walsh was also strong on the defensive side of the ball, grabbing 13 draw controls (10 against Saint Francis), causing five turnovers, and scooping eight ground balls. For the season, Walsh ranks in the top six in the MAAC in goals per game, assists per game, points per game, caused turnovers per game, ground balls per game, and draw controls per game.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Jordan  Roy, Niagara
Sr., Baldwinsville, NY, Baldwinsville

Jordan Roy was a nearly impassable during Niagara's 19-5 win over Colgate on Saturday, making 12 stops on 17 shots. The senior added six ground balls and caused a turnover in the win over the Raiders.
 
Rookie of the Week
Olivia Nicholson, Siena
Fr., Wantagh, NY, Wantagh
 
Nicholson secured her first career collegiate hat trick all in a critical second half of a 10-6 win against St. Bonaventure. She also tallied an assist against Dartmouth and added two ground balls.
 
The 2024 MAAC Women's Lacrosse Championship will take place between April 28 and May 5, 2024. The six-team, single-elimination tournament will open on Sunday, April 28 with the opening round hosted by the higher seed of each matchup. The semifinals and championship final will be hosted by the top overall seed in the field and will be played on Friday, May 3 and Sunday, May 5.
