Manhattan’s Kristeller and Lopez, Mount St. Mary’s Beckman and Quinnipiac’s Dailey Earn MAAC Indoor Track & Field Weekly Awards

Women’s Track Performer of the Week:
Nyasia Dailey, Quinnipiac
So., Middletown, Conn., Middletown
 
Sophomore sprinter Nyasia Dailey ran a personal-best and MAAC-best time of 7.61 in the 60m dash over the weekend, extending her MAAC lead in the event. It is the fastest 60-meter run by 0.19 seconds.
 
Women’s Field Performer of the Week:
Emelie Beckman, Mount St. Mary's
So, Stockholm, Sweden, Kungsholmens Gymnasium
 
Sophomore pole vaulter Emelie Beckman earned the MAAC's top effort in the women's pole vault, with a 3.85 meter distance at the Penn State Sykes & Sabock Challenge and finishing in fourth place.
 
 
Men’s Track Performer of the Week:
Darion Lopez, Manhattan
Jr., Pensacola, Fla., Pensacola Catholic
 
Junior sprinter Darion Lopez competed in the Metropolitan Championship this past weekend. He won the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.93 and the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.33. Lopez guided the 4x200m relay and placed in third with a time of 1:30.36. 
 
Lopez competed in last week’s event Bison Open. He placed ran the 60m dash, finishing with a personal best of 6.98 seconds.
 
Men’s Field Performer of the Week:
Alex Kristeller, Manhattan
Sr., Kingston, Pa., Wyoming Seminary
 
Senior thrower Alex Kristeller competed in the Metropolitan Championship. He captured first place in the shot-put finishing with 14.55m.
Kristeller completed last week’s event Bison Open. He threw a mark of 22.19m ranking him in 6th place in the NCAA.
 
The 2024 MAAC Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 24-25, 2024, at the Nike Track and Field Center at The Armory in New York, New York. The two-day meet will be hosted by Manhattan College and will be held at The Armory for the 20th consecutive year. With 11 institutions strongly bound by the sound principles of quality and integrity in academics and excellence in athletics, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) is in its 43rd year of competition during the 2023-24 academic year. Current conference members include: Canisius University, Fairfield University, Iona University, Manhattan College, Marist College, Mount St. Mary’s University, Niagara University, Quinnipiac University, Rider University, Saint Peter’s University, and Siena College. Merrimack College and Sacred Heart University will join the MAAC as full members in the 2024-25 academic year, expanding the conference to 13 institutions.
