Canisius’ DeStefano and Mount St. Mary’s’ Beckman SA Named Hercules Tires MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Mike DeStefano, Canisius, Baseball

One of the most consistent performers for the Golden Griffins, DeStefano has posted a .336 batting average, 196 hits and 115 RBI during his collegiate career. He has 54 stolen bases to his credit during his career and is four swiped bags away from breaking the program record (57). In 2022, DeStefano was named to the All-MAAC First Team and helped lead the Golden Griffins to NCAA Regional, where he was named to the Coral Gables Regional All-Tournament Team. DeStefano has been named to the All-Tournament Team at the MAAC Championship in each of the past two seasons after hitting .472 with nine RBI and nine runs scored in MAAC postseason games. The Liverpool, N.Y. native is hitting .321 this season, with two home runs, three doubles and five stolen bases. DeStefano received his undergraduate degree in sports and exercise health care with a minor in strength and conditioning. He is currently pursuing his master's degree in sport administration.

Emelie Beckman, Mount St. Mary's, Track & Field

Excelled in the pole vault all season long for the Mountaineers, culminating in breaking the school record at 3.95 meters during the IC4A/ECAC Championships in Boston. The mark overtook the record once set by Rachel Finn, who coaches Beckman at the Mount. At the MAAC Championships, she earned 3.90 meters to set a new pole vault record for the meet.
