Manhattan Sweeps First MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards of the Season

Women’s Track Performer of the Week:
Andria Scaglione, Manhattan
Gr., Oceanside, NY, Oceanside
 
Grad student Andria Scaglione won the 1,500 meters at the Army Open. She finished four seconds ahead of the pack in 4:38.93.
 
Women’s Field Performer of the Week:
Kristin Stickdorn, Manhattan
Sr, Beckingen, USAFE
 
Kristin Stickdorn broke her own school record in the hammer throw and placed first at the Army Open with a mark of 60.70 meters (199-2). The distance ranks her first in the MAAC and 11th in the NCAA.
 
Men’s Track Performer of the Week:
Darion Lopez, Manhattan
Jr., Pensacola, Fla., Pensacola Catholic
 
Junior Darion Lopez won the 100 meters at the Army Open in 10.63 seconds battling 3.2m/s winds. He then placed second in the 400 meters at 49.15.
 
Men’s Field Performer of the Week:
RJ Decker, Manhattan
Sr., Otisville, N.Y., Minisink Valley
 
RJ Decker captured the hammer throw crown at the Army Open. He recorded a mark of 65.19 meters (213-10) over five feet ahead of second place.
 
The 2024 MAAC Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held on Saturday and Sunday, May 4-5, 2024, at Michael P. Brady Track & Field Complex in Lawrenceville, NJ, hosted by Rider University. With 11 institutions strongly bound by the sound principles of quality and integrity in academics and excellence in athletics, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) is in its 43rd year of competition during the 2023-24 academic year. Current conference members include: Canisius University, Fairfield University, Iona University, Manhattan College, Marist College, Mount St. Mary’s University, Niagara University, Quinnipiac University, Rider University, Saint Peter’s University, and Siena College. Merrimack College and Sacred Heart University will join the MAAC as full members in the 2024-25 academic year, expanding the conference to 13 institutions.
