Fairfield’s Helmstetter and Manhattan’s Stickdorn Named Hercules Tires MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Blake Helmstetter, Fairfield, Baseball

Blake Helmstetter holds a 2-2 record and a 3.09 ERA, which ranks sixth in the MAAC. He was named the MAAC Pitcher of the Week after his historic outing at Florida Gulf Coast where he tossed seven no-hit innings in leading the Stags to the fifth no-hitter in program history. In the classroom, Helmstetter maintains a 3.58 GPA as a finance major.
 
Female Student-Athlete of the Week
Kristin Stickdorn, Manhattan, Women's Track & Field
Sr., Beckingen, USAFE

Kristin Stickdorn is a senior thrower on the Manhattan Track & Field team. Just this past weekend, she broke her own school record in the hammer throw with a mark of 60.70 meters (199-2). The distance ranks her first in the MAAC and 11th in the NCAA. Most recently, she captured gold in the weight throw and bronze in the shot put at the 2024 Indoor MAAC Track and Field Championships. Stickdorn won a gold medal in the weight throw, a silver medal in the shot put and most outstanding field performer at the 2023 Indoor MAAC Track and Field Championships. She then went on to earn a pair of gold medals in the hammer and discus alongside being named Most Outstanding Field Performer of the Meet at the 2023 Outdoor MAAC Track and Field Championships, where she later competed at the NCAA Regionals.
