Iona’s Faughnan and Siena’s Colabufo Named Hercules Tires MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Male Student-Athlete of the Week
Michael Faughnan, Iona, Men’s Swimming & Diving
Sr., Hopewell Junction, NY / Our Lady of Lourdes

Sparked by a school record bronze medal effort by Senior Michael Faughnan in the 200-yard Backstroke and a strong 400-yard Freestyle Relay swim, the Iona men claimed eighteenth overall in the 50-team College Swim Coaches Association National Invitational Championship. It was the Gaels best ever finish in the 10 years. At NIC's he set new Iona records beating his own in the 100 free and 200 backstroke events. 

Female Student-Athlete of the Week
Jenna Colabufo, Siena, Women’s Lacrosse
Gr., Bethlehem, NY, Bethlehem

A five-year member of her program who has been a staple on the defensive side of the field, Colabufo has played in 67 career games and has totaled 67 ground balls, 47 caused turnovers, and 31 draw control wins. A Second Team All-MAAC honoree her junior year, she earned First Team All-MAAC honors her senior season and was a Preseason All-MAAC selection prior to this season. The Bethlehem, New York product earned a degree in economics last May, and currently holds a perfect 4.0 in graduate school. She has made the MAAC All-Academic Team and MAAC Academic Honor Roll throughout her collegiate career, and was a CSC Academic All-District Team selection last season.
