WEST WINDSOR, NJ (Apr. 18, 2024) – The 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships are set for this weekend on Saturday and Sunday, April 20-21 at Mercer County Park Tennis Center in West Windsor, New Jersey. This marks the 12
th consecutive championships held at Mercer County Park Tennis Center dating back to the 2012 MAAC Men's & Women's Tennis Championships. First serve for all women’s matches are set for 10:00 a.m., while the men’s matches have a 2:00 p.m. first serve time.
The women’s championship field features the MAAC Regular Season Champion and top-overall seed Fairfield University, No. 2 Quinnipiac University, No. 3 Niagara University, and No. 4 Siena College. The four-team championship field on the men’s side include MAAC Regular Season Champion and No. 1 seed Fairfield, No. 2 Quinnipiac, No. 3 Marist College, and No. 4 Rider University.
Fairfield swept the men’s and women’s Regular Season trophies, becoming the first program to clinch both regular season crowns and also earn both No. 1 overall seeds in the championships since Marist in 2008.
The Stags women’s team claimed the program's first MAAC regular season title in over a decade, last winning in 2013, and the program’s fifth overall in its history. Fairfield went undefeated in 2024, posting a perfect 6-0 MAAC mark and 10-8 overall record, having closed out the season on a seven match winning streak. During the seven match unbeaten streak, the Stags outscored their opponents by a dominating 39-5 score, recording four shutouts along the way. The most successful women’s program in league postseason history, Fairfield has garnered a conference-leading 10 MAAC tournament crowns since the early 90’s, having won at least one championship in all three decodes. The Stags claimed league titles in 1992 and 1993, three straight from 1995-1997; 2004, 2009, 2010, 2012, and most recently in 2019.
Fairfield men’s team claimed its second consecutive MAAC regular season title; the first outright since 2009 and the third overall in program history. The Stags head into the MAAC Championship having won 10 matches in a row and the team concluded the regular season with 13-8 overall record after going a perfect 6-0 in conference play. The team has not lost a match since March 5, and has posted a 13-4 mark since February 9. Fairfield has won a total of five MAAC Championships, claiming the tournament titles in 1991, 1994, 1995, 1997, and 2012.
Women’s Semifinals
No. 1 Fairfield (10-8, 6-0 MAAC) vs. No. 4 Siena (5-11, 3-3 MAAC)

Meeting in the semifinal round for the fourth straight season will be No. 1 Fairfield and No. 4 Siena, in a matchup between the only two teams to win MAAC Championships along with Quinnipiac since 2014, with Fairfield winning the 2019 crown and Siena taking home the 2021 title. The Stags are making their fifth straight championship since 2019 and 11
th overall postseason appearance since 2011 when the MAAC implemented a four-team tournament format, after finishing the regular season with a perfect league record for the first time since 2012. Siena earned a championship berth for the eighth consecutive year since 2016 and is making its ninth appearance in total since 2011 following a 3-3 MAAC regular season which only featured losses to the three teams ranked ahead of them in the standings. The Saints have previously won the MAAC Championship twice, claiming the tournament in 2006 and 2021. In the regular season matchup between the teams back on March 29 at Siena, the Stags edged the Saints, 4-3, and was the only conference match for Fairfield this season that was decided by one point. In playoff action, the two have previously faced off in the tournament five times, which includes three consecutive meetings in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Fairfield owns a 4-1 advantage in the series, winning in 2008, 2011, and back-to-back years in 2022 and 2023, while Siena’s only playoff win between the two came during the 2021 semifinals. Last year when they clashed in the semifinals, the Stags came away with a 4-3 win to secure its spot in the championship final.
No. 2 Quinnipiac (10-8, 5-1 MAAC) vs. No. 3 Niagara (8-11, 4-2 MAAC)

Two-time defending champion, No. 2 Quinnipiac will meet No. 4 Niagara in the second semifinal round matchup of the morning. The Bobcats enter the postseason in unfamiliar territory, with 2024 being the first year that Quinnipiac has not earned at least a share of the MAAC Regular Season Championship and the team is not the No. 1 overall seed, since joining the conference in 2013-14. Quinnipiac finished the regular season with a 5-1 league mark and 9-11 overall record. The team’s lone MAAC defeat came by the hands of top-seeded Fairfield in the regular season finale, snapping the Bobcats 16-match league winning streak which dated back to the spring of 2022. The Bobcats will be playing in their 10
th consecutive MAAC postseason since joining the league and has advanced to the championship final all nine times previously while posting a record of 16-2 in the tournament during the timeframe. In postseason action, Quinnipiac seeks its eighth tournament trophy, having claimed MAAC titles in five consecutive seasons from 2014 through 2018, before winning back-to-back league crowns in 2022 and 2023. Niagara finished its regular season campaign 4-2 in the MAAC, locking up a playoff berth for the third time over the past four seasons and eighth time overall since 2011. The Purple Eagles started 4-0 in the conference for the first time since 2012-13, before falling in their final two matches to both higher seeds in Fairfield and Quinnipiac. Niagara has won two MAAC Championships since joining the league in 1992, but has never won a league title under the current four-team championship format which began in 2011, having claimed the trophies in 2003 and 2005 previously. The two sides met on Sunday, April 14, in Hamden, Connecticut, with the Bobcats picking up a 5-0 sweep over the Purple Eagles. In postseason play between Quinnipiac and Niagara, the squads have met five times previously, with the Bobcats having won all five matches. They met in the semifinals four time in 2016, 2018, 2021 and 2022, while also facing once in the final during the 2015 campaign.
Men’s Semifinals
No. 1 Fairfield (13-8, 6-0 MAAC) vs. No. 4 Rider (6-17, 3-3 MAAC)

The first men’s semis matchup will feature No. 1 Fairfield and No. 4 Rider across the net from one another. Fairfield is making its second straight championship appearance as the top-overall seed and making its program’s 11
th overall trip in the field since the MAAC changed to a four-team tournament format in 2011. With their 6-0 MAAC record, it marks the second time since 2009 that the Stags finished a perfect 6-0 in conference play. Rider clinched its first-ever berth in the current four-team format of the MAAC Championships, dating back to 2011, with its 3-3 league finish. The top four finish in the MAAC is the Broncs' highest in 27 years in the league, following several fifth-place finishes. Rider is in search of its first ever championship title and postseason win. In the regular season date on April 6 in Fairfield, the Stags came away with a dominating 6-1 home win over the Broncs. The two have met in the postseason one time previously, facing in the first round of the 2010 championship in the prior tournament format in which all teams qualified for the postseason. No. 2 Fairfield downed No. 7 Rider 6-1 in that matchup.
No. 2 Quinnipiac (12-10, 5-1 MAAC) vs. No. 3 Marist (8-13, 4-2 MAAC)

The second semifinal will put No. 2 Quinnipiac against No. 3 Marist. The Bobcats are qualifying for their eighth consecutive MAAC postseason dating back to 2015 after going 5-1 in MAAC play and 12-10 overall. Quinnipiac has never won a MAAC Championship, but has advanced to the tournament final three times previously in 2016, 2019, and 2022. Marist is making its second straight and 12
th overall appearance in the championship field dating back to 2011. The Red Foxes ended the 2024 regular season with a 4-2 league mark, and the No. 3 seed is the highest finish for the program since 2019. The Red Foxes have been crowned MAAC Champions a conference-leading 12 times since 1998, having last won a league tournament in 2015. The two sides squared off in their respective conference openers back on March 27 in Hamden, where the Bobcats earned a 4-1 home victory. Saturday’s contest will mark the sixth total time the two will meet in the postseason. Quinnipiac and Marist previously battled in five consecutive playoffs from 2015 to 2019, with Marist owning a slim 3-2 advantage in the series.
